The first car I ever bought brand new.They were really quite good.
The scary part now was that it set me back $14,000...in 1993. Think about how much money that was and would be now. Cars have got so much cheaper...
But then a mate bought ( at much the same) a brand new BMW 318i and paid $34,000 for it...he was most affronted when I pointed out that it was no better kitted out than my Diahatsu despite being nearly triple the price.

If I remember it right, those Charades had 3 cylinders! I’m not sure that’s worth an extra 20k but it’s something.

The Charades were 4 cylinder. Brett Middleton used to run a rally team with them before he switched to Subaru. The Mira were the 3 cylinder car. It was about 10 grand.
I was in Sydney at the time...
